For entrepreneurs and leaders, for business, content and social media strategists, it’s time to wake up, if you haven’t got it yet: Whether you like it or not, whether you want to be in denial or not, Google is systematically constructing your future business environment. From link building to authority building. From search to social search. From social signals to higher conversions. From Google to Google+. From Google+ to Social Networking. From search to Social Business.
Let's give you some proof.
From link building to authority building
Through the identity building in Google+, the publisher and authorship markup on your blog or web site, and the connection between them, search visibility in the future will belong to people and brands with real authorized content. Are you aware of these features that already are totally changing SEO?
From search to social search
Through the collection of social signals, among them the +1 and +share buttons, your customers are increasingly receiving recommendations from their social networks, with social and personalized search supplementing generic search. Are you going to be inside your customers recommendation streams, or not?
From social signals to higher conversions
Through the newly addition of social signals in Google Analytics, and the awaited Analytics for Google+ Brand Pages, you (and/or your competitors?) can work more systematically with your sales funnel, with better defined goals and higher conversions as a possible outcome. Do you see this unique business opportunity?
From Google to Google+
Through the creation of The Google+ Project, Google is both developing a lot of productivity tools with a new social layer, and at the same time connecting them with a social, content and connectivity hub, Google+. So far 120 Google product features are integrated with Google+. Is it still to early to get on board?
From Google+ to Social Networking
Through the users engagement in Google+, and the dialogue between Google and the users, a new kind of social network has developed, where the interest graph is at the center, combined with a unique openness for new content and new connections. A business matchmaking system in the making, someone says. Or do you want to stay out and stay single?
From Google to Social Business
Through the launch of Google Drive, on top of Google Apps, Gmail, Docs, Hangouts with APIs etc, Google is developing a collaboration platform aimed at the agile entrepreneurs, business leaders and enterprises. Will customer relations (CRM) and content management (CMS), internally and externally, come next? And can Google be the platform you need to grow and develop into a Social Business?
So, are you in?

Thanks much for this – most concise statement of the effects on business by Google I've seen. Great work.

OK, a derail: – what does it take for a post to be included in the "what's hot on Google+" section? Is it a set number of <something> or is this a changing algorithm?
Seem once again that Google is taking a Yahoo! on Facebook. Google usually has a more complex strategies in their doings than meets the eye.
Google rank and distributed databases for the win.
+Helge Astad I'm not really sure, but many comments, +1 and shares in a short time seems to be what is needed.
+Morten Myrstad well written. However, it's kind'a scary too, to see what an impact soon google will have on everybody's digital life. Soon they know more about us than FB.
